I feel like I need to change my layout or something. I'm just not really sure where to go with this site is the thing. Like I love this site and layout but IDK what to add to it really except more blog entries and stuff but I don't have that many ideas for those. Idk I'll figure something out I guess. Happy world book day.
Damn how is it 2024 now O_o?!? Feels like it was new year 2023 just a few months ago! I'm goin back to my roots and writing this in maths rn. I went to Berlin in December, which was really fun and I blew a bunch of money at the markets there lol. I also saw the Charlie and the Chocolate factory play live which was so cool. The other day I saw that the Square Enix store has the Alpha and Omega figure set in stock again!!!! I nearly screamed lol. It hasn't shipped yet but I'm soo excited to get it!
Guess the blog entries are monthly now :P Im writing this in my ECDL class because I cannot be bothered with the assignment. Been pretty chill lately though, the new FF14 patch was cool but I thought the story was kinda weak, loved the duties though. Also I'm going to Berlin next month which is cool. I also started a new playthrough of FF15 because I lost my last one and would probably have no clue where I am cuz it's been a while. I'm having fun with it :3. See ya later alligator
Soooo school started back up again this month. I was gonna post ab it at the end of the first week then I didn't lol. So far baaasically nothing has actually happened. We're going to the ploughing matches this Thursday (WORST SIGN UP SYSTEM EVER by the way. ugh. I don't even wanna talk about it.) and then an overnight trip to some adventure center next week. I'm look forward to it mostly. I might edit this post to be longer later lol I'm writing this in the computer lab and im kinda too tired to think much.
I'm back again! Okay I was never gone just not working on this. But this update was pretty big! (I mean, you probably can't tell that all that much changed, but I did quite a lot on my end. And I actually used a real code editor for once instead of just doing it all in Neocities' editor lol.) I'm gonna be going back to school pretty soon so don't be surprised if I drop off the face of the earth yet again. Though it should be a pretty chill school year. I've just kind of been chilling the last month or so since I updated. I had planned to make this update way more major than it is but I decided that I did not need to revamp my whole site a 4th time when this layout is honestly pretty nice, so I just adjusted some stuff to make the site easier to read and a little neater looking. I think I might try my hand at adding some degree of responsiveness at some point but that point is not today. Dropped like, 5 million of my gil in XIV on melding my new indagator crafting set that my FC leader made for me. Remind me never to go for BiS melding ever again because I am not making this back before new crafter gear comes out! Does make crafting easier, though... I also finished Digimon Tamers recently, and man I can see why people call it the best Digimon series. I thought the ending arc was really good and I'm impressed by Impmon's character arc. Though I cried a little bit when the Digimon left everyone... why do they always do that?! ;w;
Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! did you see the teaser for FFXIV Dawntrail???? I watched the whole keynote and it's so hype! I can't wait for summer next year :{{ Like the new areas and city look so nice and unique compared to the rest of the game and I'm so excited to see what the story is about also the new graphics updates are AMAZING and I'm finally gonna be able to drop my shitty glasses-on-earring mod :3 And Erenville as a main character!! Idk how I'm gonna survive until next Fanfest for more info cuz goddamn. Also I loved the song in the trailer, cant wait for a clean version. Ughhhhhhh And uhh now that's out of the system, in other news I've gotten back into MH Frontier recently. I played a good bit a year and a few months ago but I didn't get very far, since I got a new laptop pretty soon after beginning and it was such a hassle to set up the first time that I just never bothered. But apparently it's gotten like stupid easy to install now??? I literally didn't even have to fuck about with Zerotier bullshit once and Windows Defender is actually shutting up about the .exe now. Plus no janky crashes for talking to the wrong NPC or some shit it's insane. So I've been having lots of fun with that. I like Frontier a lot but man, back when I was playing and all the revival stuff was still pretty new and unpolished it just wasn't really worth it. Nice actually being able to enjoy it now. Oh, and if anyone is wondering- no, I don't know what happened to weekly blog posts either :P
Wow this site just hit 100k views today! Tbh that's crazy to me. I never really expected to keep this site going so long let alone to keep it getting enough views to hit 100k. Warms the heart a bit to think that many thousands of people may have seen my site and thought "wow, that sure is a website" at least once. I haven't updated my blog in a while so I should probably catch you up on what's going on. Well, nothing much has really been going on, because I'm on my summer holidays right now and my summer holiday is not usually a very interesting time to hear about. Never really go anywhere or do much, except just play video games in my house all day. I guess I kinda like it that way even if it isn't exciting. Once cool thing did happen though; my family got a PS5. We got a couple games with it too cuz it would obviously be useless without any games, that new God of War and also Final Fantasy XVI. I played like 40 hours of XVI in about four days and beat the game. I thought it was really good. It's not perfect by any means but I liked the story a lot and I think it probably deserves original soundtrack of the year. Also Ambrosia is a very good chocobo. I found it really sweet that we got an actually major gay character in a Final Fantasy game too :-). I've been working on changing my layout for my writing page. I feel like it's pretty cramped to read, which isn't too bad for these casual blog posts, but doesn't work the best for any serious writing. I wanna start a series of chocobo reviews for FF games once I've finished it but it's been a right bastard to get sorted out. Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure something out eventually.
Soooo my exams are done! Last one was just yesterday, I had science and business studies that day. I think they went pretty well. I might fail Irish tho but I've kind of written off ever getting a good grade in it, I'll probably drop down to ordinary level in the leaving cert. But that's a while away cuz next year I'm doing transition year which looks fun. Course this means my summer holidays officially start today! Well they actually did a while back but I don't count it cuz I had exams :P. I don't have many plans, I never do in the summer tbh, but I hope to get my Splatoon catalog pretty far. I only actually finished the first one and the rest I've barely gotten past 30 on. My cat is sleeping on the table in front of me right now he's so cute. Anyway. I've been kind of anxious about AI tbh like I don't even know if im gonna have a career as an adult cuz all I wanna do is art or accountancy or maybe writing and people seem to be giving less and less of a crap if it was done by AI lately. I try to forget about it but it always comes back.
It was my birthday on Thursday! I was gonna make a blog post about it on the day but then I didn't. I got the new Zelda game, it's really good I've been having a lot of fun with it. I loved BOTW and this is really just more BOTW in a lot of ways so it gets my stamp of approval. Tulin's really adorable. It kind of chugs on my Switch but I think it badly needs a dusting out anyway... I also got a new pair of headphones (they're Grado Labs SR80x if you're wondering) and a cute plant she grew herself from my older sister which is awesome! My birthday cake was a carrot cake, which is tbh one of the only kinds of cake I actually like very much but just about a million things went wrong when it was getting made so it ended up as a day-after-birthday cake :P. Also I got that Angemon figure I mentioned in the last post and made it. I haven't taken any pictures but if I ever do I'll put them on the blog somewhere. I'm thinking of maybe changing my screenshots page to a general images page for stuff like this. I lost a piece of his leg though but then I inexplicably found it in the box where I'd already looked three hundred times so it is what it is. I also tried doing some panel lining with my Unipin pens. It's maybe a little sloppy up close but not bad for a first attempt. The figure is pretty nice otherwise, looks good with Gallantmon! And umm otherwise I've started leveling my Warrior in XIV. I think I wanna have my WoL be a Warrior for the next expansion so that's why. It's not too bad so far, I'm only level 20 or so and all jobs in a role are pretty similar at that level but for some reason I like it more than Dark Knight at that level, it might be to do with the animations. Visuals/animations are really important to me in picking stuff for my playable characters. So yeah that's what's been going on! Stay kweh everybody :3
I made my Gallantmon figure a few days ago and he turned out so amazing! It looks nearly just like the box and he's more posable than I thought (although his legs tend to come apart in a really annoying way if you move them too far at the hip). I had a really good time building him and it got me interested in model kits so I bought a new one that should be delivered by the time I get home. It's an Angemon one this time! Angemon is easily my favourite adult form from Adventure 01 so that's why I picked this one. He's just so awesome looking and I love that his special attack is just punching you lol. He could have had any sort of holy angel power but instead he just socks you with the power of God. The scene where Patamon finally evolves and then Angemon defeats Devimon was just awesome and a perfect finale for that arc. I also bought a pair of plastic nippers which I hadn't for Gallantmon, so I wouldn't have to steal my mum's nail scissors to snip out the pieces again lol. Also my favourite streamer (Just_Jordy23 on Twitch) is streaming tonight so this is gonna be a pretty awesome night. He's going through the story of FFXIV right now and just got to Heavensward, and if you're in the XIV fandom you know how much fans love to watch new people go through the storyline and snicker in private group chats about all the parts coming up soon. I like his streams cause he's pretty funny and chill, & his community isn't very big so it's tight knit and not too chaotic in chat or game. Funnily enough a pair of twins who watch those streams are also the only people I know who share my birthday :O. Okay what else? Well last week I finished Digimon Adventure 01 (the 1999 one) and you know what? It was great! I thought it'd be a pretty ordinary tropey toy seller kids show, which it sort of was at the start, but later on it started getting amazing for what it is. I think my favourite arc was when Vamdemon went to the real world and they all had to follow over and there were Digimon causing chaos all over Odaiba. There were some awesome fight scenes (shout out to WereGarurumon vs Vamdemon) and I found the concept of Digimon crossing into the real world just really cool. The finale of the season was pretty good too (and man, the end of the last episode when they're all saying bye to their Digimon partners, and when the reprise of the opening kicks in ugh....) but its thunder got completely stolen by the Our War Game movie! I was ngl blown away by how good Our War Game is, I think it's my new favourite film. The animation was so slick and man that story was tense! I think it did an awesome job of making a computer virus into a character, Kuramon and its evolutions was genuinely a really threatening villain. That part where the phone lines get blocked, and Taichi gets a call but it's Keramon saying hello over and over was actually pretty dread-inducing. And that ending when there was barely a second left on the clock before the Peace Keeper lands and Omegamon destroys Diablomon just in time was so exciting! I also watched the original Digimon Adventure short film (the one with Taichi and Hikari where Koromon appeared) and I liked that a lot too. I found it interesting how differently the Digimon are treated to future Digimon animation. Usually, the Digimon move about in a more anthropomorphised way (and generally act it too) but they're a lot like animals in the short. You can see that the vision for animated Digimon hasn't quite been fully worked out yet. I liked it though, I think it'd be cool if they revisited that kind of idea in the future. I like how they used Boléro as the soundtrack of it too, it adds a lot to the short and also the real-world sequences in the TV show for reasons that I think I'll make into their own blog bost at some point. I also just really like that song lol although it keeps getting stuck in my head now. Wow, this post ended up way longer than I meant for it to be. I was just gonna do a quick little note on my new expensive hobby but here we are like 4 paragraphs down! I'd be impressed if you actually read this far but thanks for reading anything :3
First post of May! The year really is just flying by huh :3. Just a few days ago, I bought this Gallantmon/Dukemon model kit, and I'm expecting it to arrive some time next week. It's my first ever model kit but I watched some videos of people building it and reviews and stuff and it doesn't look like it'll be ridiculously difficult to make. I think it looks really cool so I'm super excited. I like Gallantmon a lot (I actually just watched the Digimon X-Evolution movie yesterday, it was so good and he was great in it), he just looks so awesome and heroic. I used the money I got from my dad for my birthday which is coming up soon to buy it. I also have exams in about a month. I'm not too worried about it because I did really well in the mock exams but it is something. I actually kind of like doing exams, idk I just find going into a quiet room to sit down and answer a bunch of questions is pretty chill and I don't have big issues with time in exams either usually. Mostly I'm just happy we'll stop getting stressed over revision for a while! And I'm looking forward to the summer too even though I know I'm probs just gonna stay at home playing video games the entire time again. Why break the streak eh?
I started working on a new site a couple days ago (don't worry, this one isn't going anywhere)! It's at debsdinos.neocities.org and it's all about prehistoric life. It's still really early days and there's not very much on it yet but hopefully it'll be a good website! I like dinosaurs a lot so I thought it'd be fun to have a place to talk about them. Hope you like it.
OMG my stuff arrived! yay I'm so happy with it it's all so cute! Im listening to the album right now :3 The chocobo theme never gets old no matter how many different variations you listen to. It's in really good condition there isn't a single scratch anywhere on either of the discs. The figures are adorable too! They all had a little bit of grime in some of the crevices but it was nothing I couldn't wipe off with a plain old wet wipe so they're looking good now although there's a couple scuffs on some of them. Now I have to decide where to keep them! I think Ill have at least one of them at my bed side so I can see it when I wake up :3. Kweh!!
Uh oh I got into Digimon!! The former Pokémon kid within me is rolling in his grave :P (Treecko and Palmon can play nice together, right..?) I got an interest in virtual pets and stuff after I got myself a Tamagotchi a while back (love those things- so adorbs!!) and that got me looking into Digimon vpets which got me looking into Digimon as a whole! Ive had kind of a passing interest in Digimon for a while now in that I see it and think it'd be something neat to get into + I like how ridiculous the monsters can be but it was always a little intimidating looking like where are you even meant to begin? But I picked up Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth on my Switch the other day cuz I was kinda like "fuck it" and got it reccomended to me as a good place to start with the Digimon video games and Ive really been enjoying it so far!! I have the feeling this has the potential to turn into a proper hyperfixation... I guess it's about time I got a new one, FFXIV has had me in a vice grip for almost a whole year now! But I get the feeling FF isn't going away completely for a looong time yet, not while I've still got patches to be hyped for! Obvs since I'm like brand new to this whole Digimon thing I don't really know that many Digimon very well but so far I'd say my favourites are Sleipmon (IT'S SO COOL!), Palmon, BanchoLeomon, and Dorumon. But Im sure I'll get new favourites as I go along. I think I'll try to watch the animes too but I'm never really too good at watching shows and actually finishing them. Here's a secret: this isn't actually my first experience with Digimon. That title goes to this one Digimon Roblox game where you'd battle stuff as a Digimon to level up and digivolve, it was like an ARPG kind of thing. There were a load of similar games for pokemon, digimon, and original ones too I remember really liking all of them but I was kinda embarassed to admit to anyone that I played that game cause Digimon or Pokemon loyalty seems like the biggest deal in the world to you as a little kid. but that was about all i knew from digimon going in, it was barely anything tbh, and I was prettty young back when I was into that game. Oh, also, that chocobo stuff I ordered will probably come this week!! I paid the customs on it early today so now I guess it'll be shipped back out to me soon. It's kind of ended up a lot more expensive than I expected it to between shipping fees and customs but oh well, anything for some cutie chocobos right :) . Now I aught to stop procrastinating on my easter homework! Baii!!!!
Yesterday I finished this new book I bought called "Skandar and the Unicorn Thief" and I thought it was really good ! It's about this kid named Skandar who lives in this world where kids take an exam when they're 13 to see if they can go off and learn to ride unicorns and it turns out hes kinda special and stuff but I wont spoil :P. It falls into that odd genre of "books for 8-12 year olds with a slightly odd amount of gore or violence but not enough to set off adults alarm bells. I really like that sort of book even though Im kind of old for them I just feel like they have a special sort of vibe to them that I really like that you don't really see much in books for older audiences. I could barely put it down lol it was really exciting! the sequel comes out this month i think im going to go get it straight away :D I really liked the characters in the first one (I cant decide if Mitchell or Flo is my favourite!) and the unicorns are really cool (silver blade is AWESOME!). you should check it out if you think it sounds good! btw I took the quiz on the publishers page- my unicorn is named Gossamer's Glow and my allied element is earth! (another great win for middle grade novels- they all have fun quizzes to take!) Also, first blog post of April! Woo! I was gonna make one earlier in the month but I couldn't think of anything to do write about so I didn't. Things are starting to warm up properly where I live which I always like until it's summer and it gets too hot and sweaty for me.
Woo its the Easter holidays! We get two weeks off. I have a lot of homework and stuff 2 do but I think it will be pretty fun. Were planning to go to either Dublin or Waterford on Wednesday depending on what goes on. Also the Nessie vs Aliens vs Bigfoot Splatfest starts this weekend, to be honset Ive kind not been too in to Splatoon lately, one of those interests thats always in the back of my mind and sometimes I feel like I enjoy thinking about it more than playing it. Im on team Nessie though! Other than that ive been continuing my re read of the books of Earthsea, sadly though some of the pages of my copy of the complete edition are falling out. I bookbind as a hobby so I can stick them back in pretty securely but it's still a bummer because it's a really nice edition. I have the UK version which is perfect bound but I think the other version with the red dragon on the cover is thread bound so it's probably a lot more durable. Shame because I like the more minialistic cover a lot and blue & gold is one of my favourite colour combos. Oh well. Rn Im arpund 3/4 or so through The Farthest Shore, I cant wait to get on to Tehanu I love that one a lot. Well have a good day anyway reader :3
I just bought some stuff from Japan today! I got 3 cute chocobo figures with a matching black mage and also the album Compi de Chocobo and I bought them with FromJapan. I'm pretty excited for them to come bc as you know I love chocobos (and they are really cute chocobos). I guess they'll probably take a while to come but i can wait :) woo
eurgh i got sick :( its just a cold but it kinda sucks. but at least this time i didn't get sick literally right at the start of my holidays. that always happens! ALWAYS! but this time it's a week early soo take that sickness! i think ive been doing a lot of good work on my site recently! i keep just clicking links to play the cute kweh sound effects i added. debs place just keeps getting closer to what i want it to be, and even though it's never gonna be perfect, that also means there's never not gonna be neat stuff to make! what i wanna make at some point most is a page for worldbuilding, it's something i like to do (thanks a lot spore for getting me into worldbuilding and speculative biology at the tender age of like, 5) and i've had one world floating around in my head for a few years now but i've not really had a good place to put it. i always felt like a lot of the big platforms you might put a project like that were too limiting or too expensive for me, but if i made a section on my site for it, i'd probably not have those problems hopefully! i kind of have the idea of styling it as a traveller's journal of sorts but we'll see how that goes if i do add it. that journal thing might just end up being a small part, maybe a little bestiary for my species or something. hehe so many pages to make and so little time or energy to make them huh.... but stay cute everypony reading :3
aghaghagh i want to add a little more life to my layout but i'm not really sure how to go about it. i always feel like having moving or blinking gifs adds a bit of character and fun to a site but i don't want to go overboard with them in case people who have issuez with those kinds of things visit my site and also idk like where on the page to put them? i wanna add a little more stuff on the sides of the page but i'm not really sure what to put there maybe some iframe navigation or update log stuff? and there's also a million other things i wanna update at the same time like im working on screen reader accessibility and a final fantasy themed shrine (o god i haven't even made the shrine page to put it on ..!) and there's a billion new pages i wanna make and just all sorts! and then there's that part of my brain telling me to change my layout again (shoo! it's not even been a month!). im kinda just drifting along yknow lol
so recently i got a new stereo for my room with a CD player so i've been collecting "legally obtained music" to put on CDs. mostly i've been choosing lossless files like .flac and you know the thing they don't tell you about listening to lossless sound files is that afterwards you'll never be able to accept listening to music off youtube or whatever again, it's crazy what the difference is. so subtle but it totally improves everything especially if you're using good headphones or speakers, you can hear everything! and bonus is that i can listen to them off winamp with a cute chocobo theme :3 (BTW, classic winamp WHY don't you have a play by track number feature?! ugh!!). overall quite fun.
been reading "dune" by frank herbert lately! i was in this bookshop in the city a while back (it was a REALLY cool place, by the way- there was like three floors and pits and a cafe and so many books!) and it was the book i decided to pick up. i'm only around the start of it yknow but its been really good so far, captivating even though it's started out slowly enough. it's a very interesting premise. i guess with the new movie that came out it's been a pretty big deal lately so it's easy to find in a bookshop even tho it's 50 years old lol. not complaining, though! i love older books, i mean, one of my #1 books since i was a little kid was written over one hundred years ago. ive been reading more lately which is a very good thing! i got into the earthsea books months ago and they just kind of got me back into reading in a way i haven't really been since i was quite young. it's fun!
so recently i started playing final fantasy! the first one (or well, the remaster for GBA). i'm playing it on my 3DS. i'm really liking it so far! it has a lot less guidance than modern games im used to but thats okay, feels like my warriors of light are really on an adventure. speaking of my warriors of light, they're tiel the warrior, eren the red mage, noelle the white mage and tia the black mage. i didn't think i'd get as attached to these four as i did lol. tiel is sorta the leader of the bunch, he believes that theres good in everyone. eren is the oldest and the most serious, hes a bit of a mentor to the others especially tia and noelle. hes a little more quiet than his partymates too. noelle is the healer ofc and she has a bit of a "must save everyone" mindset. shes quite adventurous too. then tia is the youngest. shes a powerful mage but has a tendency to push herself too hard and get injured. shes also a bit naive and gullible. she never gives up, though. ATM i'm trying to find the crown for the king in the ruined castle west of elfheim. as soon as i heard of a spooky castle west of elfheim i just had to go check out what was going on there. i fogured it'd be that dark elf guy the villagers were talking about but i guess not. we'll see what happens when i get the crown back to the castle!
having just recently finished the sixth book of earthsea, "the other wind", i wanted to discuss a certain character, tehanu (or therru throughout most of the book tehanu), from the perspective of a dragonkin individual. spoilers for earthsea, particularly tehanu and the other wind! i think it should be pretty obvious to any therian or otherkin, or anyone with some knowledge about us, how tehanu (and also orm irian, and any other such dragon-people) can be read as otherkin. throughout the fourth and sixth books of earthsea, there are a lot of things about her which as a human and a dragon myself i related to a lot. in fact, though i doubt she was written with it in mind, i would go as far as to say she might be one of the best alterhuman characters not written by an alterhuman (not that i know of many... we're not common in the media). tehanu was born human, and lived human seemingly without too much knowledge of her true nature as a dragon, nor did anyone else know of it bar kalessin until the ending of tehanu, where kalessin says her true name and calls her daughter. however, she shows a connection with dragons and the things associated with them, wind and fire, even at the age of around eight. when thinking of getting somewhere quickly, she thinks of flying, not running or sailing. she is infatuated with fire, which might have been because she was badly burned, but also invokes draconity. and maybe most importantly, ever since first learning of them, tehanu is obsessed with dragons and especially the woman of kemay who like tehanu would end up being was both human and dragon. while i was reading the book tehanu, this all reminded me of myself a good bit. as a young child (and i admit still now) i was in love with the concept of flying, on my own wings. i still look jealously at the birds who can fly. i would sometimes flap my arms while i ran as though they were the wings i should have. she keeps these traits into the other wind. there's one line, from chapter four of the other wind "dolphin", which i think displays this well: Tenar and Tehanu talked a little, pointing out ships that passed, birds, an island. 'It's lovely. I forgot how I like to sail!' Tenar said. 'I like it if I can forget the water,' said Tehanu. 'It's like flying.'
so the queen of england died today. is it bad to say ive kindaa been waiting for this? was about time. the royal family are nothing but a waste of resources. though, the funeral and coronation are gonna be another waste of resources, which doesn't bode well for the cost of living crisis going on in the UK right now. but i think i can speak for a lot of people when i say her and her family's coloniser asses did have it coming. the memes have been pretty funny too ngl which is always nice. though honestly i don't get why such a big deal is made of the monarch's death, at least in an official sense. so much frivolity and faux-mourning all because some old git that's been little more than a b-list celebrity ever since people stopped believing god personally chose them kicked the bucket. is all the 12 day mourning bullshit really neccessary? for the family and the friends, okay, but the average person won't give two by the weekend. seems a little funny to me is all.
the summer holidays felt so short this year. but then, they also felt so long, like they would never end. they always feel a bit like that. maybe it's because for me, they're a little monotonous. i don't go out with friends and my family are all screen-addicted shut ins like me so it's not like i ever get dragged out to the beach or anything. so usually, i just kinda play video games all day and chat with online friends. not the most exciting way to spend the summers, i know, but i don't dislike it. the company of my computer is all i need, always been like that. but cuz of that summer routine every day does blend together a little. and it all starts to feel like a day and a month has gone by at once. i don't think the heat helps. heat always makes things feel a little slow. which sucks, because i hate being hot, i'd much rather be cold. it's been getting hotter every year too. climate change, i guess. climate change really worries me, it feels like by the time i'm ready to go and make something of myself there won't be a world to do that in. but what worries me more is how little the people that could have a hand in stopping it seem to care. i think if the top few in the world put their heads together they could slow down or stop or maybe even at some point reverse climate change. but they'll never do that cuz they only even got to the top by doing the shit that's causing climate change. they don't care what happens to the rest of us so long as the number in their bank accounts keeps getting higher. they'll bleed the land dry and starve us all so long as they get to live in comfort. and people are complacent in it all too. they'll turn a blind eye, or idolise the few whose fault this is, or not give a crap cause they won't be there to see the consequences anyway. not saying ive not though, nobody's immune to that kind of thinking. to ignoring or downplaying the problems they don't want to deal with. but its gonna destroy this world. capitalism was truly a mistake. at this point i think the only way this is gonna get solved is revolution. but i wouldnt know how to start one nor would i ever have the ability to fight for one. so i guess i'll be at the sidelines if ever one does happen. and man will i be glad if it does. hold on, wasn't i talking about the summer holidays? oops.
so, did anyone else read the mouseheart books? its this trilogy of kids novel (10-12 kind of age range) by lisa fiedler about a mouse who escapes a pet shop and then helps lead a rebellion against the rat empire. i really like these books! they're in that warriors "weirdly violent kids' books about animals" genre which ive always had a bit of a soft spot for haha. ive only ever met one other person that read them tho! i got my copy of the first book from a school library, i think. my primary school had little shelves of books in each classroom you could take to read and i think i just forgot to ever put mouseheart back. it sat in my wardrobe for ages before i finally got around to fully reading it but i really liked it when i did! so then a while after that i ordered the second and third books (which i have yet to finish... oops). theyre fun and a little nostalgic feeling if you get what im saying. i think the plot of mouseheart is quite interesting and it never underestimates its audience even though it's a book for preteens. the characters are good too, i liked zucker the rat prince and firren the rebel rat especially. i'd definitely reccomend mouseheart if you like these kinds of books! and on the topic of animal-themed books for preteens, have you ever heard of don conroy's wings series? i swear, it's way more obscure than i thought! i've only ever found the third book, sky wings, anywhere online (luckily, i think this is the one i actually read as a kid). i think i've seen a used copy or two of the other books on online book shops but very very few. a few months ago, i started thinking about these books again, because i had a vague memory of a book about birds of prey, and after thinking about it long enough i figured it was probably the wings trilogy. but all my searching for the books online was fruitless! recently though my mum sent me an online archive of books that did indeed have sky wings which lined up with that memory! my search was over. i've still yet to finish the book but if i like it half as much as i did when i was 10 or whatever i'm quite excited about it! as i mentioned before, the books are about birds of prey, who are up against (another) rat empire. the author, don conroy, is a wildlife conservationist who played a part in reintroducing the golden eagle to ireland, so you know he know's what he's talking about when it comes to birds of prey! he's also an artist and i believe he did all the illustrations and cover art himself. when i was young, he actually came and visited my primary school and gave us all a talk. that's why i decided to read sky wings! anyway, i seem to remember him seeming like a nice person and he was a good cartoonist as well. we all got a photocopy of the drawing he did for us but i don't think mine has survived the years. i've always liked animal books. did you ever read either of these series? if not, maybe consider picking them up!
oh my god!! it has been way too long since i last posted here! my last blog entry was in march... oops... i didn't mean to stop updating, just fell out of the flow of it + exams n stuff were coming up so school had me a little busier than before. then by the time summer came i just had no motivation. i hope i can start updating more again now but no promises! but as for what i've been doing in the meantime, i got really into final fantasy xiv. if u dont know what it is its a MMORPG by square enix and its really fun i think! i love the story and ive made a lot of friends there, plus there's so much to do even for casual players. my warrior of light is named liolaeus rath (yes after rathalos hehe) though i need to get a name change bc i set it to something else that i don't think fits him first. hes a male raen au ra and he loves chocobos as much as i do. picture of him is below! id reccomend checking it out some time- the free trial is huge. other than playing FF14 though i've done a little bit of drawing (not nearly enough though, ugh. was in an art block for ages!) although i haven't posted any of it anywhere online. if i can be bothered to scan anything any time soon i'll put it on this web site though! and my exams went well. i did really badly in irish (still passed tho) but everything else was easy enough. my art exam especially- it was a project to make a poster with the planning for it as our CBA and i got top marks in both. my teacher even used my project as a good example! mine was a poster for a fake video game, a monster hunter type one because im nothing if not good at putting my hyperfixations into everything i do, and the main feature was my own monster i made. it's called falcyon and it's a semi-aquatic wyvern that uses its long spear-like beak to stab its prey, sort of like a heron if a heron was quadrupedal and capable of running at fifty kilometres an hour. the name comes from falcon, halcyon, and falchion. i think i did a really good job! my actual poster went well too, i was finished way before everyone else (a shocking amount of people barely finished at all...) i did really good in my english exam too. ive always been good at english and i have fun with it too so it was a breeze. usually my main problem in english class is that i take forever to write everything i want to (would be SO much easier if i could type instead- you can tell ive been on the internet from way too young with how i can type compared to my peers...). our tasks were pretty much just some media analysis and stuff, the typical english exam fare, and we had a creative writing task at the end too which i had a ton of fun with (i LOVE creative writing!). and my business exam was easy enough too. another subject im good at. our exam in the hall was just a couple of the big maths questions they do in business which are always easy for me. the rest of the exam which we did in class before exam week went ok also but my notes got destroyed in my bag so i got 10% or something docked for that... asides from all that though i haven't had much going on. my summers are always a little slow, i don't really have friends i go out and see irl or anything so most of it ends up spent online and playing video games, but i find that plenty of fun anyway. oh, i did get monster hunter rise: sunbreak though. i haven't played it much, i still don't really like monster hunter rise and the anomaly monster thing kind of annoys me. there's barely anything different about the monsters except they do more damage and take way too long to kill. just not very fun for me. i hope monster hunter 6 will be a little more up my alley. oh and i played the splatoon 3 splatfest premier! i don't think i talk about it that much here but i LOVE splatoon, it was pretty much the first fandom i was ever in and i just find it really fun in so many ways plus the music is great. splatoon 3 is really promising and the tri-colour turf wars were chaotic but really fun. so i think that's about all i have to say! just wanted to let it be known that im not dead and i havent completely forgotten about my web site haha. stay safe out there everyone!!
sooo i beat ahtal-ka the other day in monster hunter generations ultimate. MHGU is really such a great game and it has an awesome final boss to match. ahtal-ka's fight is super interesting and unique, and it was really fun too. i love how she throws stuff at you. even though i knew the stuff she does it still got a lot of "holy shit!"s out of me. i felt really cool when i climbed onto the ahtal-neset too (even when i knocked myself off with a bomb when doing it again for materials afterwards...). the final phase where she puts webs all over the place and starts swinging the wheel around was also amazing. ahtal-ka is easily one of my favourite fights in MH now, i really hope we see her return at some point. i know its unlikely tho. i beat her with someone from a discord server im in called the gathering hub (its a great place, so many people to hunt with...). it's always more fun with friends! we ended on one cart left iirc and damn did i think we'd fail during that last phase! it's really great. i think everyone should try mhgu out, especially if you're a fan of mh games. unrelated but sorry for not updating much recently, ive been meaning to but am just struggling to get into it rn!! usually with stuff like this i have periods of being really dedicated and some of being not so much so i doubt it'll be permanent. i hope you like the updates & blog posts i am putting out tho.
so a few days ago i got my monster hunter world handler notebook in the post! the second i saw it on capcom EU's store i fell in love and ordered it from emp a couple days later. its designed after the one that the handler uses in MHW. i really like it! ive been using it as a sort of journal to just write random stuff that comes into my mind and notes and stuff. the cover's a grey faux leather kind of material with a splotchy pattern printed on. it has a bit of a rubbery feel. i really like the texture its nice to touch and feels a bit premium. it has the gold pattern on the edge of the cover printed on in a weathered style (it's sparkly!) and there's also the research commission logo embossed into it. it closes using a snap closure thingy on an arrow made of the leathery material. the inside is just as nice! the front endpapers are a browny colour with the tale of the five printed on one page and the research commission logo on the other. the back ones are cream coloured with one of them having a bunch of monster icons on it and the other is blank except for a monster hunter world iceborne logo. they look very pretty! now for the paper! it surprised me how nice the paper is, usually fan merch isn't the best for quality. it isn't the thickest in the world which isn't a major sin since it isn't a sketchbook or anything, it's more than good enough for writing. the surface is smooth but it takes pencils excellently. better than a lot of drawing paper i've used. pens go down well too and nothing i've used on it has shown any major bleeding though there is some ghosting. the ghosting isn't too noticeable though. however i havent used any dip or fountain pens on it, so i dont know how itd react to that. each spread has the tale of the five printed lightly on it which i really like, it doesn't interfere woth your writing but is nice to look at when you open a new page up. other than that, the pages are blank and unlined. overall, this is a really nice notebook! anyone who likes monster hunter and stationarey should pick one up if they get the chance. solid 9/10!
hey there :) today i thought id share what i use to draw! wow yeah cool lets get into it :3 SKETCHING STUFF well first we should look at what i use to sketch! when im sketching in my sketchbook you know thumbnails and stuff ill use basically whatever pencils i have lying around, but i especially like to use a brown conté pencil. i think the colour is specifically some kind of sienna? not sure on that tho. it feels nice to sketch with since its very tactile and i like the colour. its also pretty thick so holding it feels good to. the brand is koh-i-noor i think. for sketching under a proper drawing id generally just use graphite though. i especially like to use mechanical pencile tho and i dont usually go much darker than HB. the pencils i use are faber-castell one mostly bc thats what my local art shop has. i like derwent precision too. when im drawing a comic, i like to use faber-castell polychromos coloured pencils in light phthalo blue. its a colour that can be easily edited out when you scan it. would use an erasable coloured pencil if i had one.... PAPER well u cant draw without paper... unless ur drawing on canvas or wood or something but that doesnt matter. i think that surfaces are one of if not the most imporant art material so i have a lot of opinions on them obviously. the sketchbook i use ATM is a hahnemuhle D&S sketchbook in a5, landscape orientation. idk exactly how i feel about it? it's kind of weird... the paper is sturdy enough, not rigid or anything but it can hold up against watercolour, pencils, markers etc. it lays flat pretty well too. however the surface is weirdly soft? it's sturdy again, but the surface is almost fluffy feeling and resists being drawn on by graphite a bit. it works very nicely with conté though. it's got a ton of pages too. pretty solid. as for paper to draw finished stuff on, i use a lot of kinds. i have a scrawlrbox subscription so ill often find myself using the paper included in there for a good while. asides from that, ive been using some "the langton" cold press watercolour paper i got for christmas with... well... my watercolours. its nice but so thick that my paper cutter doesn't like it... annoying since i pretty much never work in anything resembling a standard size but im trying to get my paws on a craft knife i can use instead. i also sometimes use aquafine hot press paper but i prefer the other stuff. i'm still exeprimenting when it comes to the right paper for my comics though. i recently got a pad of "manga paper" that i'm using for my next comic. it's v smooth, so good for my pens, but picks up the pencils i sketch with pretty well too. it is a bit less warm than i like but since its just for scanned line art, that's alright. havent tried it with any sort of colours aside from the polychromos i sketch with yet though. when it comes to coloured pencils, i sometimes just use watercolour paper too but i also have this cheap pad of paper, i think it's "elements" brand, that i use. it's surprisingly good for the price! it's a little cooler toned than i'd prefer but it has nice texture to it that makes it pick up coloured pencils pretty well. it's a big pad too, something like 40 sheets. COLOURED PENCILS and on the topic of coloured pencils, let's take a look at the ones i use. the coloured pencils i have are derwent coloursoft, they're nice n bright and also easy to work with. i really want some posca pencils though, i have like 3 i got in a scrawlrbox and they're soo cool... so expensive, though... i also got a sample of a derwent lightfast pencil from my last trip to the art shop and thats really good too but also veery expensive. its the perfect colour for adding little lines and details to watercolour paintings which is what ive been using that for (you can see an example of that in my recent rathalos painting). LINES well since were talking about lining ill show u what i use for lineart! of course i already mentioned the lightfast pencil, but i also like to use uni-pin brush pens in black or sepia. i like uni-pin specifically because the tip is quite small and easy to control which is good for working small like i do and lets you get nice fine lines. the tip is also pretty durable so even if you use it on rough surfaces it doesn't fray much at all, which is a problem i've had with other brush pens and is pretty shit when you work with not watercolour paper. the colour is also good, the black is very dark and the sepia is subtle in a coloured drawing but not invisible. i also use dip pens ocassionaly, i have g nibs specifically. they're kuretake ones i think. i need to get new ones tho, i lost one and the other two are a bit worse for wear, cant rlly get thin sharp lines anymore. i could do with new inks too, been using black india ink but it stains like mad and the bottles like to seal themselves stuck. cuz of all that i havent been using dip pens much lately. rlly need to order new stuff... PAINTS i do watercolour painting! it's one of my favourite mediums but you wouldn't be able to tell due to the fact that it takes me 3 years to finish a painting. the 2 kinds of watercolour i have & use are ecoline watercolour inks and winsor & newton cotman watercolours. i like the ecoline paints because they dry smoothly and they're obnixiously brightly coloured. it's also easy to re-mix a colour you were using before with them since because they're liquid, you can measure exactly how much you're mixing. it's a bit more difficult to do that with other watercolours. the main thing i don't like about them is that they just love to reactivate and mix with colours on top and around them, but they don't reactivate the whole way so you can't erase them with water. you can get around that with practise. the cotman paints are much more typical watercolours. i just posted a review of the new set i recently got so i won't drag this bit out but the colours are nice and bold and they're fairly uniform when dry tho a bit less so than the ecolines. good stuff good stuff. BRUSHES cant paint without brushes! yeah i know theres sponges and finger painting n that but we r not doing this again... anyway, i use a lot of brushes, whatever i have lying around mostly. which is mostly shitty brushes from the works or lidl or whatever that summon dust into all my paints. i recently got an actually good brush though, hallelujah. daler rowney aquafine, it's wonderous how big a difference a brush that doesn't suck makes. id reccomend it, not too pricey, but they're good quality and hold a lot of water. their shape feels nice in the hand too. aaand i think ill leave it there! ofc i have more art supplies, like rubbers and sharpeners, but tbh theres really not much i can say about all that kind of stuff. love you all, see you next time
so yeah i decided to hack my 3ds. everything went smoothly, there were a couple small issues like some files copying wrong and storage issues but other than that no problems. i figured that since they're taking down the 3ds eshop, it was about time i just hacked it. i'm not gonna do anything crazy on it right now since i need a bigger SD card (my n3ds is still on the stock 4gb one, i bought a bigger one but it was in the wrong format.... so im just gonna wait till i can grab another one) but once i get a good amount of storage, i'll probably mostly do homebrew and pirated games and stuff. i'm pretty excited to see what i can do with it! makes me feel real hackery to go into all the menus XD even though i barely know what they do. i'd reccomend doing it, if just for the freedom over your console it offers. i don't think it messes with online play or anything and the chances of getting caught/banned are pretty slim if you stay away from cheating, especially since the 3ds is like, fully dead now. just don't tell nintendo!
why is it that microsoft office sucks so much? its the leader for this kind of stuff, i'd expect it to have a half-decent user experience. but it doesn't. microsoft office, or at least office 365, is an absolute pain to use. it's not intuitive to find the tools you need and it's constantly pushing you to do stuff you don't want to do. some of the programs seem to reload for no damn reason at all; teams is the worst offender, i find. the whole experience is utterly awful, i'd rather put together a document on plain notepad than brave word. why my school still insists on wasting their money on this frustrating mess is beyond me. and this is all without even mentioning the horrors of trying to make anything remotely customised on that shitshow they call powerpoint! it's almost as bad as squarespace for being disgustingly template oriented and trying to make a presentation without a template or, god forbid, make your own template is so much of a hassle that it's not even worth it anymore. there isn't an ounce of personality to be had. and again, it has the same issues of horifficaly bad feeling tools that make it a huge pain to do just about anything besides adding a bit of text and moving it about. all this only gets worse if you dare to venture beyond the PC and use the mobile versions, like i so often have to for school. every problem related to frustrating interfaces and the program seemingly having a mind of its own gets ten times worse on a mobile device. and for fuck's sake, no, i don't want to recover that document, and i didn't want to the last 7 times you asked me either. fancy microsoft not being able to develop a competent program for PC or mobile? honestly it's a complete shitshow. how text editors and various other office applications haven't gotten out of microsoft's vice grip at this point is beyond me seeing as how far more competent software exists that does pretty much all the same stuff, but better, and not at an exorbitant price either. ugh! it just sucks so hard! it's so bad, in fact, that instead or doing my presentation for english class on powerpoint, i'm doing it in good 'ol HTML as a bunch of web pages on this site, just because powerpoint is so annoying that i can't bear to do the work on it. i'd much prefer to spend 15 minutes with intuitive markup and a bit of CSS to come out with a few slides of a nice looking customised presentation than go through half an hour of attempting to wrestle with shitty software that constantly fights you to get a couple slides that are both overly polished and completely unfinished looking with the corporate sheen of a web site advertising the best private information collecting services on the net. not a clue why people even bother anymore.
my coding class really sucks.... you'd think it'd be good considering i like 2 code and my school is pretty up-to-date when it comes to technology. but my teacher just doesn't care! im not convinced he even knows how to do any coding. most of the time it's basically computer-themed babysitting and the rest he just puts us on W3schools or swift playgrounds or whatever for a while. we're learning nothing here that we couldn't have with 30 minutes and a search engine. in fact, i'm writing this in coding class with HTML skills he didn't teach me. i don't think ive ever had such an utterly disinterested teacher. rawr!!!!! >:( at least the keyboards in here are slightly nicer feeling than my laptop at home. not saying much, though...
so the other day i bought a winsor & newton cotman pocket sketcher watercolour set, because i have the worst self control when it comes to buying art supplies, and uuuh i thought id do a review on it! note that i have never written a review on an art supply before so this might not be that helpful XD. well lets just get started: COLOURS theyre great. cotman watercolours are vibrant and bold but not at all hard on the eyes. also, the selection in this set gives you all the colours you need both to paint right out of the box and to mix your own colours. there's no black though- not much of a problem for me, since i prefer to use dark browns or purples instead of black and am not a big fan of mixing darker colours by using black, but personally i would've included a black instead of white. overall the colour selection is very good though. THE BRUSH this set comes with a little travel brush. it's pretty good! my biggest gripe with it is that the size makes it a bit hard to hold, but given that it has to fit in a box you can put in a pocket that's alright. the tip is thin, so you can easily get details with it, but it's also quite long so you can do wider areas too. course you wouldn't want to use it on a big painting unless it was for detail, however given that this box is designed to take around with you and you're probably not gonna be doing big paintings out and about thats okay. it's a pretty good quality paintbrush too, the bristles keep their shape and it doesn't destroy itself in 3 minutes so overall better than 10 euro value multipack brushes. ill probably use it quite a lot. THE BOX so the box doesn't matter that much, i mean it's just something to keep them in one place really, but i figured id add a section anyway. it's pretty basic, white plastic with a space for your pans and brush in the bottom and a pallete in the top. the plastic is pretty sturdy feeling and it feels nice to hold. the texture on the outside is cool too, feels nice to scratch. the edges on the box are a little sharp tho and it's hard to open it. overall it sure is a box. ACTUALLY LIKE USING THEM well this is probably the most important part. wouldnt be a very good review for a set of paint without talking about the paints!! they do feel and look very nice. colours go down smooth and boldly. the pan format does make it a little difficult to dilute them to an exact amount but it's not a huge problem and that's kind of to be expected. i have cotman watercolours in tube form which don't have that issue. they layer quite well too and pencils etc go over them well. theyre good paints. maybe not the fanciest most professional or whatever but more than enough for most artists. very good!! HERE HAVE A PAINTING *WET FLOPPING FISH NOISES* theres the painting i did with em today. it's rathalos. most of it is the cotman paints but i added some details with white charcoal and violet coloured pencil. everything except the highlights, outlines and hatching are the paints. pretty cool i think! ~deb
today i went to one of my town's art shops. i like it in there, the music they play is nice and the whole atmosphere is good. it's a small shop so there's stuff hidden in every corner, fun to explore it all. i probably spend too much time and money in there... i got some cotman watercolours, a new paintbrush, pencil toppers, a pencil extender, a conté pencil, a white charcoal pencil, a pencil extender, a pen holder, and a new pad of paper for drawing comics (expect to see a comic page at some undefined point in the future...). they also gave me a free sample of a derwent lightfast coloured pencil. ive been wanting to try that brand for a while now so that's really cool! it's a nice colour, too. "violet LF1". its a very deep purple. now i want more lightfast coloured pencils.... but they're really high end, so probably not getting more any time soon lol. my coloursofts still work just fine and ive been using other mediums more lately anyway. im working on a comic rn with the new paper. it's a 3rd part of my "snowdog" series. i made the snowdog comics as sort of a way to practise. they're all 4 pages in length which gives me enough pages to make a complete (albeit short) story but aren't too long that i'll run out of motivation halfway through. they're about feral dogs in this vaguely post apocalyptic world covered in snow. ill probably make that comics page once i've finished this comic. rn, im only just doing thumbnail sketches for the pages, so expect it to be july before it's ever finished XD. my comics are only on webtoon ATM, i want to move all that stuff to my site soon enough. hope you guys will enjoy it!
ive been playing monster hunter 4 ultimate recently (yes, i got it as well as mh3u...) and man.... i wish i could've played this sooner. not really in a "wow, this game is so good! how have i gone all this time without it!" way even though it is SUPER good but more in like a "this game feels like something i should've played when i was a kid" way. i don't know if that makes any sense at all. i just kinda wish i could've gotten this game when i was a kid sneaking my DS to bed to play under the covers and it was fresh and new and i'd have a ton of trouble beating it but id have fun the whole time. feels like im starting it too late. also its a similar kind of thing to what i talked about with mh3u where it really feels like something ive seen before, the music makes me feel so nostalgic, even though i never played it before now. i wish i had a reason to be nostalgic about it. maybe in 5 or 10 years i will be nostalgic about it, but right now... im in 2022 playing monster hunter 4 ultimate on a 3ds. doesn't it seem like it's too late to start that? maybe i just really want someone to play it with. not as in rando strangers joining my gathering hall or even folks on MH discords or whatever. a real friend that also plays monster hunter. its just lonely playing it on your own... sigh
i made a mascot for this site! he's a kulu ya-ku named flick (same name as my kulu in MHS2, actually. same one, maybe?). if you came to this site via a button or ad, you might already have seen him! you can tell him apart from other kulus because the first feather on his crest is broken. he loves to eat eggs and explore the internet. here he is!
i play a lot of monster hunter, so i naturally have a lot of opinions on monsters. bc of that i thought id put together a list of my 5 favourite monsters. of course, though, there aren't many monsters i don't like; they all have their own quirks that make them good. #5: yian garuga the "lone wolf wyvern"... i like yian garuga a lot because asides from its design being cool and unique, its fight in world is really fun! i don't like the GU version as much, though. i also like how it subverts the "early-game punching bag bird wyvern" trope that its cousin yian kut-ku falls into. its hunting horn is really cool, too. i don't rlly have much more to say about garuga, just a cool guy. #4: mizutsune such a pretty and elegant monster! mizutsune was one of the first monsters i ever hunted, being one of the three monsters in the rise demo, and if you combine genu and that demo mizutsune is probably one of my most hunted monsters. i love mizutsune's design, so frilly and pink, and its gear is just as beautiful. i used its insect glaive for a lot of low and high rank in generations ultimate. i also like its fight, i think bubbleblight is a really unique gimmick and it's fun how slippy mizu is. i also love its theme, especially the GU version, it fits mizutsune really well i think. also one time in GU i used the aerial dodge to jump over its water beam and ive never felt as cool before or since. great monster, would be ideal on a deserted island. #3: safi'jiiva maybe safi's not quite as unique as its baby brother xeno'jiiva but i think it's really cool. it has such a simple but powerful design and i love the star patterns on its wings when it goes into supercritical mode. safi'jiiva is also the monster that got me to hr100 in world, and ive fought it a lot of times so im very familiar with it. plus, the sapphire of the emperor is probably one of the coolest ultimate moves in all of monhun. its theme is really unique and mysterious too, and the version when it targets you is heart-pounding (literally! if you listen closely, you can hear a heartbeat in the song... spooky). overall, sick monster. #2: kulu ya-ku i know kulu's not the flashiest or strongest monster... but it's special to me. my first-ever experience with monster hunter (outside of about 10 minutes in the rise demo) was monster hunter stories 2, and kulu is the first monstie you hatch yourself in that game, so its always had a bit of a special spot in my heart (my kulu in stories 2 was named flick). i think it's pretty neat how it picks things up to use against you as weapons or shields and it stands out bc of that even though it doesn't have much else that's very special. also i love feathery crests like kulus on dinosaurs. i like its dodo beak too, i think it looks nice. maybe kulu wouldn't rank so high if i didn't have special memories of it but hey, this is where im putting it. #1: nergigante i think nergigante is just great!! its the flagship of my first monster hunter which gives it a bit of an edge of course, but i also love how simple but good its design is. i also love its fight, no annoying gimmicks or anything, its a real test of skill. its roar is really cool and unique too. i love the concept of a monster thats the apex of the apexes and i think the devs did a really good job of making it intimidating. and its theme is great! ruiner nergigante is really cool too and i thought it was pretty interesting how it fakes you out at the end of the iceborne story line. overall a great monster and a pretty easy favourite!
moofy from monster hunter generations ultimate is the best. poogie and cohoot and that one duck from frontier are all nice (i love poogie especially, the original little beast in my virtual house) but moofy is just soo cute! and her outfits are too. the little baa she does after you pet her is really great too. shes great and im so glad she comes with you on the soaratorium. if you havent seen here before then here she is btw: isnt she just the best? i think so. i bet she would be so soft in real life... just like a real lamb. so awesome that you get to have this little creature in your house. if youve never played MHGU i highly reccomend it for one you get moofy but also it's just a really good game and valstrax is really cool. at some point moofy will grow up 2 be a big village moofah like this one: and shell still be as cute as ever. the village moofah are great too, they even help people out. and felynes can sit on their backs! such great little animals. keep being funky you wonderful beasts
as you probably know ive been playing monster hunter 3 ultimate lately.... it feels like a game that's, i guess, where i belong. it's weird. i never played it as a kid or anything, it's not my first in the series, and i wouldn't say it's my favourite when it comes to the gameplay in some ways. but it feels like home, like where i was always meant to be. when i listen to the theme song, i get this longing homesick feeling for it. not like i want to play the game, but like i want to go there in real life. maybe i'm a moga hunter in some other life in a different world or something, idk. i feel like moga and tanzia are where i belong. my heart aches for them. i can't go there, not outside of the game, and i know it's not even a real place that's ever existed.... just feels like i should be out there exploring the oceans and hunting instead of cooped up in my room typing this. it hurts a little knowing i never can. have you ever felt that way about a game? or a book or movie or something? and you know.. when i was a little younger, i thought i was otherkin; specifically, a dragon. id thought that way since before i knew of that term. i don't really identify that way anymore, but that part of me never fully left i don't think. maybe i was a lagiacrus or something and not a dragon. or some other monster. maybe that makes even less sense... idk... i just wanted to get all this out here you know?
sometimes unexpected things happen, that look bad... they are a part of life. but isn't it nice to find value in those things? one man's trash is another man's treasure or whatever. a few days ago, i ordered something from CEX: one copy of monster hunter 4 ultimate and a nintendo 3ds case. when it arrived, there was a switch case, not a 3ds case and when i opened the MH4U case..... it was monster hunter 3 ultimate! these are oversights that CEX should not have let happened of course and i did contact support, but the amount i paid for MH4U was half of what MH3U cost on their site and the 3ds case was 75 cent as opposed to the 12 euro that the switch cases were. plus, i started playing 3U earlier and really am enjoying it :) underwater combat is a pretty fun gimmick and the visuals are really nice. i will eventually get 4U too, but for now... it was a surprise, but i don't mind it. so i guess what i'm saying is don't write off the unexpected or whatever. idk
there are so many things out there that will never be known. maybe once upon a time they were, but they are long since forgotten. don't you think it's kind of scary how things can just fade out of existance? from broken websites and flash games never archived to an artwork rejected by the artist, thrown out or filed away and soon forgotten, to soft, squishy life forms that had nothing to become a fossil and life forms with hard bits that lived in places that just didn't allow them to be preserved. none of them will be known again, at best they are fading memories of a time passed and at worst they are so far-removed from today that there is nothing alive that even knows them as a drop of nostalgic memory. it happens to people, too. i wonder just how many people out there, wonderful, kind people, will never have their names spoken again. media is affected too. old movies never converted to a digital medium whose film has rotted and faded beyond repair. stories written but never published or confined to the creator's head. video games only for one obscure, old system with hardly any working units that nobody bothered to emulate. isn't it kind of sad? that nobody will remember all these things and creatures. and yet we cannot remember them, not now, and most likely not ever. all we can do is remember what we have now, and try oh so desperately not to forget.
hello! i'm diego (he/him), but you can call me debleb. this is my new website, and of course my new weblog too. i haven't done terribly much HTML or CSS before so it's nothing too fancy. maybe i'll make it cooler 1 day. i thought it would be appropriate to make my first entry into this blog be an introduction, so here we are. im just a kid on the internet with interests & hobbies, such as: monster hunter, jojo's bizarre adventure, paleontology, making comics, art in general, and beastars. im a transgender furry riddled with adhd and yea everything that comes with that. my favourite music genres r rock, j-pop and whatever monster hunter's OST is doing. i don't really watch TV or movies all that much but when i do i like animated stuff best. i have one pet; a cat named raven. so yeah that's about all i think. short i know. see ya another time
you guys miss me? :3 i kinda abandoned this place for a while. i kept thinking "i should update my site!" and never doing it or making blog posts that never got finished or added. just kinda went on for ages... but then i started getting more active on the melonland forum (mostly cuz i found out it's not blocked on my school wifi and it was something to do at lunch time lol) and that gave me some inspiration to work on this site more! it probably won't last forever but i think it will be easier now. especially with this blog. before, i was making a whole new page for each blog entry and linking it on the main page for each month and it just got too hard to manage and it was too much effort to go through all the linking and the making pages when i just wasnt feeling very bothered with my site generally. with this new format i just need to make a new article for the entry pretty much which i think will help me a lot to keep it updated. i wanna aim for at least one blog entry per week but you never know how that'll go. if you haven't noticed... i got really, really into chocobos ever since i started playing ffxiv lol. they just make me really happy! they're so cute and loyal and yellow is my favourite colour. im kinda known as the chocobo guy to most people i know on ffxiv now... worse things to be associated with! ive actually been playing chocobo tales on my ds lately which ive really been enjoying it's not particularly challenging or anything but it's very cute and the mini/microgames are fun to just pick up and play for a few minutes even when im not playing through the story mode. i love the graphics, a little pointy by modern standards bc DS game but i grew up on pointy DS games so it's a little nostalgic. and the pop up book look in the minigames is soo nice! i love the soundtrack too but i'm just a sucker for renditions of the chocobo theme. so uhhh yeah! hope you like the new layout cuz i certainly do!
